How To Increase Communication, Have More Sex, And Eliminate Fighting In Your Relationship...

Save My Marriage: Couples can often feel like their only recourse after years in a rocky relationship is separating or divorcing. Things are said and done during heated arguments that cause mutual regret, but the resentment and hostility still linger. What do you do if you feel like your relationship has reached the end of the line, but deep down, you know there is still something worth holding on to.

It won’t be easy, but if you have the patience and put in the hard work, you and your partner can bring a failing relationship back from the brink. Here’s how.

Ask Yourself Why You Got Into the Relationship in the First Place

When two people meet and experience a special connection, where does that feeling go after years together? Maybe it gets buried under mountains of responsibility and the challenges of raising children. Perhaps you have both started to take each other for granted. Take a step back and remember why you got together. Take a step back and remember why you both got together in the first place. Most likely, it was to raise a family and grow old together.

Don’t Make Hasty Decisions

When you make a decision, you want to make sure it’s the right one. Whenever you are about to make a choice that will affect your marriage and your family, don’t act on it right away. Instead, let it sit in the back of your mind for a day. If no other options present themselves, then it’s likely you have hit on the best solution.

Put Yourself in Your Partner’s Position

Whenever your relationship stumbles, remind yourself that it takes two to tango, which means that you are both contributing to the contentious situation. When you feel like you are in the right, remember that your partner feels the same way. Consider the problem from their point of view. You aren’t carefree kids anymore. The responsibilities have stacked up, and you are both feeling the pressure. Taking a timeout and considering the situation from your partner’s point of view will do wonders for your state of mind.

Don’t Speak Ill of Your Partner

When you feel the strain of your marriage, it can be easy to talk badly about your partner to the first person who will listen. When you are angry or hurt, your judgment is often flawed and not borne out of logic. Negative talk will not make things better. The best thing you can do for your relationship when you feel like this is to keep your thoughts to yourself until you are in a better frame of mind. Remind yourself that your partner is still the person you fell in love with, you both have flaws, and there are no villains in this scenario.

Refresh Your Commitment to Each Other

You may be going through a rocky patch, but you are still a team raising kids together. Whatever is going on with your relationship, it’s essential to continue doing things as a family. You don’t know what’s going to happen, but reaffirming your commitment to the family will put you on solid ground for whatever the future has in store. Relationships take work, so don’t give up. You may feel like you are on different pages, but with communication, compassion, and understanding, there is every chance you can reignite the flame and bring your relationship back from the brink.
