So, you’re a newly married couple. What is some great advice that’s going to help you keep the relationship healthy and on track? Hey, Cody Butler here, a marriage coach and founder of Better Marriage. Today, I want to share with you some tips and advice if you’re a newlywed couple and you really want to keep that relationship healthy and make sure you stay out of trouble.

The first thing is to understand that prevention is the best cure. You’re far better off avoiding problems than dealing with them down the road. The best way to do that is through relationship education. Just like successful people in any field, getting educated and having a coach is crucial.

If you’re a successful businessperson, you have a business coach. If you’re a successful athlete, you have an athletic coach. Relationships are no different. The more education you get, the better it’s going to be. Relationships have the most significant impact on our lives, influencing our finances, health, careers, families, and children. So, getting the best education to set yourself up for success is the best thing you can do.

Leading on from that, it’s all about communication. Whether a marriage is successful or unsuccessful, it ultimately comes down to how well you communicate with each other. Every couple loves each other when they get together, obviously, or they wouldn’t come together unless it was an arranged marriage, of course.

But over time, we tend to drift apart because we are unable to communicate effectively. Successful couples with long and happy relationships have developed excellent communication skills. On the other hand, unsuccessful couples that disintegrate and fall apart have very poor or no communication skills at all. Communication is the crux of whether your relationship will succeed.

It benefits you to educate yourself on this aspect. If you want some free communication skills education from us, check the link in the description where we provide free education on how to communicate better with your partner.

Another thing you can do to keep the relationship fresh is to make sure you take regular breaks together. Whether it’s just a day, a weekend, or a little bit longer, try to get away and take a trip with your partner at least once every three months. It breaks the routine and allows you to escape the doldrums of day-to-day life, keeping the relationship fresh.

Lastly, the best piece of advice I can give is to keep doing what made you fall in love in the first place. Often, couples come together with shared interests, hobbies, or special interest groups. Over time, those interests may start to diverge, and we end up being two separate people living a life together in a marriage. It’s very difficult.

So, focus on doing what made you fall in love. If you continue doing those things, you’ll stay in love. If you stop doing them, chances are you’ll fall out of love.

That’s it from me. Bless you all, and we’ll talk to you very soon.
